I'm Not Going To Pretend...

I'm sorry I haven't updated in a few days, but I don't really know what to write about since I don't want this blog to be too personal. Let's just say that I am going through something painful right now and I don't want to come on here and pretend to be okay. It seems like a lie, and nobody likes a lie.
Sooooo, this blog might be lacking in substance for a little while, but I will still be taking outfit shots. I'm just not sure how many I can get this week because it's supposed to rain until Saturday.

These are from a day or two ago. It was a little rainy out while I took them, but not too bad.

Shirt: Faded Glory
Skirt w/ belt: Forever 21
Tights: Apt. 9

Boots: BC Footwear

One thing I can be glad about is that this skirt has pockets. :) I loved it as soon as I saw it in Forever 21, but I didn't think it would work out for me. I decided 'what the heck' and tried it on anyway. I love the way it fits! The only problem is that it's a little on the short side. :\

Jumping Jehosaphat!

I felt like jumping and leaping while taking these pictures. Maybe it's because of the nice weather that has come our way. :)

I just love these socks! They were handed down to me by my mom along with a few other pairs. Purple is my favorite color and this shade is so pretty! I also have a thing for white tights lately.

Dress: All That Jazz (thrifted)
Sweater: Vera Wang
Tights: Label-less

Socks: Handed down from my mom

Oxfords: Angelo Luzio (thrifted)

Belt: Thrifted

I'm going to New York next week! I plan to visit some fun stores such as Cheap Jack's, Anthropologie, Betsey Johnson, and maybe Topshop if I can figure out the subway system...

Blogger Woes

I haven't been able to go into the woods to take pictures with my nifty tripod a. because I don't really like to go alone b. because I don't really have anyone besides Anthony to go hiking/photographing with. Anthony said we could go this weekend, but he's just not that into the whole photography thing. When someone isn't really as into something as you are, it kind of puts a damper on things. Bummer. For now, I am still sticking with my backyard...

Dress: Vintage Robbie Bee, via eBay
Sweater: Take Out

Tights: Gap

Oxfords: Angelo Luzio (thrifted)

I wish I had some real-life blogger friends to venture out with. Not many people are willing to withstand the elements, so to say, for the sake of outfit shots. Caitlin from Waking Life left a great quote in a comment on my previous post. It reads:
"'We fashion bloggers are like postmen--"neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these (bloggers) from the swift completion of their appointed (photo shoots).'"
So true. I'm so glad Nadia helped me out! I'm sure she'd probably go along with me to nature-y settings, but our schedules clash and we live about 40 minutes from each other.

I've been reading everyone's Chictopia 10/NYFW posts and I noticed that many of the girls who attended were disappointed with how little time they got to talk to one another. Suddenly, I had a thought! Why only meet up with fellow bloggers once a year at an organized and scheduled event? Why not just plan a blogger meet-up for the fun of it?!
I just wish I knew some bloggers in the New England area. That would make things a WHOLE lot easier. The only one I know of is Pauline from paulinabelle, but we haven't even really talked over the Internet (with the exception of a few Chictopia comments here and there) so it'd be weird to be like "HEY! Let's meet up!". Maybe someday I can plan a meet-up once I get to know more local bloggers, but for now it's just a thought!

I'm starting to think these yellow tights are a little TOO bright. They can work at times, but I think I need to invest in a lighter/paler shade of yellow tights.

This is one of my all-time favorite dresses. It's the perfect cut and shape! I love the little folded-down collar detail and buttons on the bodice. It reminds me of the '50s and somewhat of the pin-up style, but I believe the listing said it's from the '80s. It has pockets too! :)

Here are some pictures from when I first got the dress back in September:

[Bodice detail]

These were when I was first starting to use the self-timer and getting into outfit shots. I actually like that last picture because it's blurry. It makes me think of the old pictures I have of my grandparents.

It was in the 40's here today and according to the forecast it's supposed to stay in the 40's for the next week! It seems that spring is just a coat-toss away! :)

Forever Sweetheart

I am entering the Forever Sweetheart contest on Chictopia! For the picture, you have to hold up a sign with the name of the person who is your sweetheart. My sweetheart is, of course, Anthony! I thought it'd be neat if instead I went to the beach and wrote Anthony's name in the sand. My friend Nadia and I went to the beach in the cold and the wind yesterday and she was my photographer for the day! It was actually a really nice day for the winter, but the temperature was still in the 30's and the wind did not help.

I apologize in advance for the complete picture overload that is about to happen. Startiiiiiiiing NOW:

[Writing Anthony's name!]

I ended up having to write his name about 5 times so when we left, 'Anthony' was written all over the beach. People must've been wondering who the hell this guy is! We tried out a few different angles and positions on the beach which is why I had to keep writing his name. His name is just so long and hard to fit in a picture!

[Too dark!]

We took some pictures without his name to try and get some good shots of my dress.

Dress: Forever 21
Shirt: Iz Byer California (from Kohl's)

Tights: Simply Vera by Vera Wang

Heels: APT. 9

It was so windy! I had to constantly move the hair out of my face. I remember shouting at Nadia "How do models do this?!"

It was fun to have someone taking pictures for me instead of having to run back and forth between the spot I'm posing in and the camera.

The waves caught me by surprise during some of these shots and my feet got soaked. My shoes were so wet and sandy once we got back to the car!

Boy, was it cold. I was numb by the time we were through and Nadia was on the ground, feeling as though she might pass out. I felt so bad! She was okay, though. She's a trooper! And we went to a vintage boutique and Urban Outfitters afterwards, so it was all good!

[Me and Nadia! (I am laughing at how my pin makes Frodo look like a creeper in this picture)]

It was such a nice day yesterday and then last night and all of today it snowed.

I took more pictures of my outfit today (sans the beach and wind) where my hair is not flying all over the place.

I love this dress so much. One thing about it that I didn't like is that the sleeve holes were so low you could see my bra from the side. To fix this, I just shortened the sleeves by folding them over and pinning them.

I love the lace detail of the shirt I wore under the dress. It's actually the shirt I wore in my "Lace Cameo" post.

I hope everyone had a good Valentine's Day! Anthony and I celebrated by going out to brunch, and then by seeing The Wolfman.

[Fanciful teacup at brunch!]

We were going to see The Lightning Thief on Valentine's Day too, but we ended up seeing it the night before. The Wolfman was really good, but I was disappointed in The Lightning Thief. They left out and changed too many things from the book. I'm currently reading the second book in the series, plus I'm re-reading The Fellowship of the Ring. PLUS, one of Anthony's Valentine's presents to me was this book:

I started reading it and it's really interesting to see the locations and behind-the-scenes photos from the film sets. If you know of my love of Lord of the Rings and fascination with New Zealand, then you know that this book is a treasure to me. I thought it appropriate to take this picture on my shelf where I keep my Harry Potter and LOTR books. I swear that I have tons of other books that are less nerdy.

Anthony also got me roses and this box of deliciousness:

Yes, that is a box of 36 Reese's Eggs. I am trying so hard not to devour the whole thing in a matter of days.

I got him a video game that he wanted and I baked him peanut butter cookies...

...and spice cupcakes with cream cheese frosting!

We had a great day! I am so lucky to have such an amazing, wonderful, and silly boy to call my sweetheart! :)
