Floral Accents
One of the presents that Chris got me for Valentine's Day was this vintage scarf he found on Etsy! I was super excited because A. I need more scarves and didn't even think to ask for one and B. He picked it out himself based on what I wear and own. Plus...it's vintage!!!
I always liked how floral print and stripes looked when paired together, so I decided on this striped dress to wear with the scarf. This is one of those things that I bought over a year ago and just never got around to wearing. That used to happen a lot more than it should've. I have cut back on how much clothing I buy in the past year or so. I'm not sure if it was a conscious decision to stop buying so many clothes. I don't really limit myself. I just decided that I should only buy something if I'm very certain that I will wear it, and wear it more than once, especially if it costs a lot. I remember reading about how you should judge how much you spend on something by how much you'll wear it. So if you buy a really nice jacket for $100 and wear it ten times, then it costs $10 per wear, which is a pretty good value. It's all about getting your money's worth, I suppose.
There is so much snow everywhere that it's hard to get pictures where I'm not squinting. All of the light just reflects back from the snow and directly into my eyeballs and makes it hard to keep them open. If there are a lot of shots of me looking down or away, then that is probably the reason why...at least until the snow melts. I'm hoping that'll happen soon. It's not that pretty anymore now that it's all dirty from cars and foot traffic and whatnot. Plus it's annoying when a lot of two lane roads are still reduced to one lane.
Although the winter seems to be taking forever to end, I really can't believe that we're almost into the third month of the new year already. Time just flies, and it's crazy!

These are great photos, you can't see that you are squinting from snow glare at all. I do love the bright hat. We don't have much snow where I am but I am definitely looking forward to sping. I want to be getting home from work and it still be light again!
ReplyDeleteWhat a darling scarf, and such a sweet, thoughtful Valentine's Day gift :-)
ReplyDeleteaww squinting is cute though! Love the last photo and I think this is a great set and outfit!

That scarf is gorgeous! What a thoughtful Valentine's Day gift! <3
ReplyDeleteI'm ready for all the snow to go away, too! We've only had it a couple weeks where I live, but it's that time of year when I think that the snow should start melting and spring should start coming. I'm not really a fan of winter... I much prefer spring and summer. ;)
Photos in the snow are SO hard! It's like taking photos in the hottest, brightest of lights, only you are freezing. I hate it too. And how beautiful is the scarf - I can't believe he picked it out! It's perfect for you. And Thrifted Shift is a great resource for the cost per wear thing - her blog is really inspriing. I try and focus on buying pieces that will last for a long time (my Anthro dresses last years, I still have the first top I bought at Anthro in 2006 in my closet) and that I can wear with things I have already. I was ending up buying too much stuff from Target that was falling apart or uncomfortable (shoes especially) and now that my husband is tailoring what I buy, basically it's no Target clothing!
ReplyDeleteAnyhow - I agree, florals and stripes do work here. and I LOVE your beret! So cute.
