Oreo Chocolate Chip Cookie Brownies

You guys. These brownies may kill you. That's how intense they are. Oreos? Chocolate chip cookies? Brownies? Yep...you get all three in one. You may think that you want to have a normal brownie-sized piece, but even that is sometimes too much and you may slip far away into the food-coma abyss. You may know these brownies by their other, more provocative name: slutty brownies. I'm not sure exactly why they are called that, but I can take a couple of guesses.

I made these for Easter (the morning before I got sick) and everyone seemed to love them. I have had them a few times before since my friend always makes them, but I never actually made them myself. They're pretty easy to make considering you just have to make the cookie dough. You can make your own brownie mix too if you want, but usually boxed mix is used.

I think I'm the only person in the world who doesn't like Double Stuf Oreos more than the original ones. I just feel that the original Oreos have the perfect balance of cookie and creme. I don't want TOO much creme. It's the same with cake and frosting. When there's more frosting than cake, it's just not good to me.

Since I was all sickly on Easter, I wasn't able to get a good picture of all the layers like I wanted to when the brownies were all cut up. I got sort of a corner chunk to take home, so I worked with that the best I could. I wish I could've tasted them fresh, but I didn't want to cut into them before bringing them over for Easter. But even a few days later, they were sinfully delicious! :)

Ingredients:

1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened
1 cup granulated sugar
3/4 cup light brown sugar
2 large eggs
1 Tablespoon pure vanilla extract
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
2 cups (12 ounces) milk chocolate chips
1 pkg Double Stuf Oreos
1 Family Size (9×13) Brownie mix
1/4 cup hot fudge topping (optional)

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Cream the butter and both sugars in a large bowl with an electric mixer on medium speed for 3-5 minutes. Add the eggs and vanilla and mix well to thoroughly combine.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda and salt, then slowly incorporate into the mixer until the flour is just combined. Stir in chocolate chips.

Spread the cookie dough in the bottom of a 9×13 baking dish that’s been lined with wax paper and sprayed with cooking spray. Top with a layer of Oreos. Mix together brownie mix, adding an optional 1/4 cup of hot fudge topping to the mix.

Pour the brownie batter over the cookie dough and Oreos. Cover with foil and bake at 350 degrees F for 30 minutes. Remove foil and continue baking for an additional 15-25 minutes. Let cool completely before cutting.

Note: To half this recipe for an 8×8 brownie mix, simply half the chocolate chip cookie dough ingredients.
