Quick Pics

July was a pretty good month! I started it off with cherry picking, saw some fireworks for the 4th of July, and I headed to campus for a week long residency while taking two intensive classes. I also ate a bunch of Trix, which was awesome. For some reason I've been craving lots of cereal lately. I'm still unforgiving to the fact that Trix aren't fruit-shaped anymore.

If you follow me on Instagram, you know that I love to share baby pictures and old family photos. If you don't follow me then you should start! ;) Here are a couple that I posted recently. Everyone says that I look just like my mom. What do you think?

I got to drive through the Catskills on my way to campus, which was pretty nice. They're super scenic and pretty. I'd really love to see them in the fall. I also caught a really pretty sunset up there!

I had a jalapeno popper grilled cheese for the first time earlier this month, and it was really yummy. I stopped at this place with a friend where they had a little restaurant with couches and whatnot, as well as a little country store with penny candy and knick knacks. I love country stores and old general stores. It's part of the reason why I have a soft spot for Cracker Barrel. I also got my awesome comic print skirt in the mail from ASOS and found a cool old Jurassic Park pin.

I don't know if I've ever talked about it, but all my life I've had this little dot in my eye. My friend from high school would always joke about how it's a portal to another dimension. One day last year I finally decided to look into it and found out that my small little dot is an eye freckle! They're not harmful at all. They just kinda happen. I think it's pretty neat!

August is on its way, and that means we're that much closer to the end of summer. I remember when I never wanted summer to end because that meant going back to school. Now I'm pretty indifferent to it. Sometimes summer fashion can get a little boring and repetitive for me because I just want to throw on a dress and some wedges. It's definitely easier to get creative in the fall and spring when you can layer. But of course, when it's autumn or spring I can't wait to not have to wear tights. It's always something! haha. Autumn is definitely the prettiest time of the year and the most sentimental for me, with spring coming in second.

Ahoy!

How awesome is this dress?! It's a sailor dress with pockets and a full skirt that flies up in the perfect way when you twirl in it. What's not to love? Plus, it was a very special gift given to me that I greatly appreciate from the bottom of my heart. Of course, this dress called for a beachy/boardwalk type of location. I really liked this boardwalk. The beach was alright, but it was so humid when we took these that I didn't want to stay any longer than I had to.

The humidity seems to have finally broken and the temperatures have been cooler lately. Yesterday it was only in the 60s! It felt like fall. I was actually cold in my dress and sweater and I considered wearing tights! Tights in July? Whaaaaaat?! New England, you be so crazy.

I'm having a cookout on Sunday with a bunch of friends and I'm really hoping that the weather is ok for it. I tried to have one last summer, but only about 8 people showed up out of the many I invited. I really wanted this year to be amazing, so I planned it way in advance to make sure people could get the day off and not have any prior engagements. And now it's saying there might be thunderstorms. Le sigh. I'm going to punch the weather in its face if it rains on my cookout!

Lately I've been feeling sort of anti-social. I'm not really sure what it is. I don't know if it's the stress from school making me feel all anxious and in a bad mood or if it's just a phase I'm going through. It seems like I'm just always tired and content watching Netflix or something every night. On my days off I like to do things, but for the most part I'm exhausted and don't want to be around a lot of people in my free time. It could be the introversion of needing me time. Maybe I just require more lower-functioning me time lately? Who knows. I kind of feel like I've fallen off the grid with some people, but I just have other things going on in my head that are taking up my energy. It happens.

Things just got real for a minute there. Anyway...this is a happy dress, and I assure you that I'm not miserable or hate people. I just have my phases and problems and moods sometimes like everyone else. I think the weather affects a lot, too. It keeps raining and being overcast and muggy and that's no fun. I want clear skies, good air, and a bright sun. I know I'll eventually get out of my funk. Here's to hoping August brings some better weather!

Holy Comic Print, Batman!

I'm back from my residency! I met a lot of great people and I learned some cool stuff, but it's definitely nice to be back home. Dorm life is not too pleasant. It's nice to have my own bed and shower back again. The residency was full of very long days, and I only slept about 5 hours a night, sometimes more, sometimes less. But when I got back Friday night, I slept 12 1/2 hours! It felt so amazing. Of course I couldn't get to sleep until super late on Saturday night, but I still got 8 hours!

These pictures are actually from a while back before I even left. They were taken at this huge novelty shop that has all sorts of nostalgia items and collectibles. It's full of random things like a McDonald's sign, a giant Ronald McDonald statue, and a life-size cardboard cutout of the Pink Ranger. They also have tons of pins, patches, books, posters, bobbleheads, etc. I found this awesome vintage Jurassic Park pin!! I was excited about it. :)

The place is decorated with all sorts of pop culture references, murals, pictures, etc. They even have a separate haunted house attraction that they run during Halloween season. I'm so ready for Halloween season. I'm pretty sure I want to be Minnie Mouse this year! I felt like this place was fitting for my new awesome comic print skirt by River Island that I got on sale from ASOS recently.

We've had quite a heat wave in New England, lately! It's been in the 90s and humid, nonstop for the past week or so. The temperatures are slightly cooler now (if 83 degrees can be seen as slightly cooler), but the humidity is still relentless. I'm hoping for some rain just so the humidity can break for a bit, although it'll probably just come right back the next day. I can't say it enough...I'm ready for fall!
