I Felt Like Barbie

You know those days when you go to do a shoot and it just seems like nothing is going right? The lighting is weird, the location doesn't feel right, the coloring is off. That's what my day was like with this shoot. I just wasn't feelin' it. I was by some ponds and hiking trails where the lighting just wasn't doing it for me. Then I decided this outfit is better suited for the beach, but when I went to the beach, it was too windy. I despise wind with all of my being. I couldn't win that day, but I still managed to get a few shots to use.

This outfit made me feel like Barbie. A bright pink polka-dotted crop top with jean shorts and colorful shoes? It felt like something she'd wear for a beach day. I had a lot of Barbies when I was little, but I never really LOVED Barbie. I do have some specialty collectors Barbies that are still in their boxes that my mom saved for me when I was little. I have no idea where they are or if they're worth anything, though.

These pictures were actually taken almost a month ago. I have a few shoots from last month that I need to post that all took place before I went to Pennsylvania. I just wanted to post the Pennsylvania ones first so that I wasn't posting those a month after the meet up happened. So prepare for a little bit of time traveling in my next few posts! :)

We've been having such good weather lately! Not too hot, a nice breeze, and cool nights that feel like autumn. I'm so pumped for fall fashion and festivities. I can't wait for it to be October!

  1. That happens to me a lot when I have shoot that just doesn't feel right, but I never even end up posting them, haha. But I think your photos came out pretty dang cute regardless!

  2. It's hard to believe that these photos weren't working out for you- I think they're just beautiful! I love your little pink polkadot crop top, and the shots of you by the water are gorgeous!

  3. Aw I think these pictures turned out nice! Your outfit is absolutely adorable so that always helps! The pink crop top is very Barbie and awesome. It looks great with your high-waisted shorts. Definitely a perfect beach outfit!

  4. Hey, I love these shorts :) very cute! As a skirt and dress lover, I also despise wind, such a buzzkill when it makes you blush because everyone know what colour is your pantie! Anyway, I do think it looks like a typical barbie outfit!

  5. I actually think your shoot turned out nice. Love the shots on the beach and the retro shorts are super cute. And cute blog too, I am your newest follower via Bloglovin.

  6. I know exactly what you mean. When that happens to me, I get all frustrated. But these photos are lovely. Love your top so much! <3 <3 <3

  7. you would look so much better in tights! I'm a little bit bored with that bare-leg-look all the time

  8. These photos turned out really nice! Don't be so hard on yourself. I know you said it just felt off but the end result is fab. I get what you mean though - I felt like I was committing serious fashion crimes tonight because I was wearing white after Labor Day (including white shoes!) but then a huge winter coat. It looked like a crazy mash up, but people told me I looked cute all night. Your outfit is only beachwear if you decide to limit it to that :) Likewise, my dress is only a summer dress if I don't have the confidence to rock it during other seasons. Sorry this was so long winded, I meant to just compliment your cart wheel action shot, ha! Take care.
