Inspired by Hogwarts: Gryffindor

So who else is a huge fan of Harry Potter? I must admit...I was a little late jumping onto the Harry Potter bandwagon. I didn't read the books until maybe the summer before my sophomore or junior year of college. I can't remember which one. This is just a guesstimate based on the first one of the films I got to see in the theater was Half-Blood Prince, which came out in the summer of 2009. All my cousins and even my grandmother got into it when it first came out, but I was never into it then.

I didn't really grow up with Harry Potter. I just decided to read all 7 books one summer and once I started, I couldn't put it down. I went through the series so fast that it was insane. It's just so GOOD. I'd read and read before bedtime to the point where I'd start having Harry Potter dreams...lol. The books are so much better than the movies, and I always hope that people will take the time to read them, especially if they enjoy the films, because there is so much more to appreciate in the books. There is a lot more internal struggles for Harry, especially during the last book, that no one watching the movie would even really know about...and a lot about Dumbledore, too.

One thing that always impresses me and blows my mind is when authors are able to imagine and create an entire imaginary world with so much detail that it seems like it could be real. J.K. Rowling's imagination is so amazing to have been able to create and include all of the aspects that she does within the wizarding world and community. I feel the same way about Tolkien and Middle Earth. It's amazing how much thought and creativity goes into these magnificent worlds and stories.

So this whole Harry Potter-themed outfit idea all came from me getting this Harry Potter ring and then deciding to wear the Gryffindor colors to go along with it. I decided to take pictures on some train tracks as a sort of nod to the Hogwarts Express. Apparently, they have done a lot of work on the expansion of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios and I think they now have a Hogwarts Express that you can ride! I'm upset that it won't be open in time for when I'll be going with my parents next. I'll probably have to wait a whole other year to go to the new part.

Gryffindor house has a lot of the big characters in it: Harry, Ron and the other Weasleys, Hermione, Neville, Professor McGonagall...even Dumbledore was a Gryffindor. Since my ring is symbolic of Harry, I chose to wear the Gryffindor colors. But this is only the first of four outfits! I will be creating an outfit based on the colors of each of the four Hogwarts houses, so be on the lookout for which house will be next! :)
