Quick Pics

Ever feel like you're always waiting for change? The change of the seasons, a change in career, change in living situations. Lately I feel like I'm playing a sort of waiting game, like I'm in limbo between two phases of my life. I am waiting for something to happen so that I can start planning the rest. It can get frustrating and a little discouraging at times, but I keep having faith that everything will work out in the end, whenever it may be. Here's to hoping it's sooner rather than later!

I'm sure everyone goes through phases where they feel stuck or at a standstill. Where you are doing all you can, but there's only so much of it that is in your hands. Everyone makes goals for the new year, and while I have some goals for the new year, a lot of them are sort of carryovers from last year. I was never able to move out like I wanted to last year and I still haven't gotten the opportunity to make a career change. These are two major things that I really wanted to happen last year, but I can't force them. I can only set the wheels in motion and then see if they take me to the destination I want to be at. I have definitely been trying and so far, I'm not seeing much of a result, but I am not going to lose faith. I know eventually things will fall into place when it's right. It's comes with being in your 20's, I suppose...haha. Tea duckies and cookies make things somewhat better though when you're feeling a little down.

Despite how much I hate winter and despite how January is always the worst of the months, I had a pretty good month. I started it off with eating waffles for the first time in my life. I know, right? I'm sure that sounds crazy, but I was always a pancake person. Sarah decided it was absolutely absurd that I hadn't had waffles before and insisted that she make me waffles. We finally got around to it after I slept over on New Year's. They were delicious and when we went to brunch for Sarah's birthday later in the month, I ended up getting chocolate chip waffles. I still prefer pancakes and don't think there's that much of a difference, but waffles are fun.

Some of the highlights of this month were a trip to the casino, a Disney movie marathon, and an ice skating trip. Other than that, it's been pretty relaxed. I haven't ventured anywhere too far as it's been freezing the whole month. When it's cold like this, I go outside to take pictures and then once I'm done, I run for the car and blast the heat and then go somewhere indoors. Taking pictures can distract you from the cold, but not for long...especially when you realize that you can't feel your fingers anymore.

Of course this month I celebrated the fourth anniversary of my blog. I am so excited that it's been another year of not only running this blog, but doing something I really care about and have a passion for. I also got a haircut, finally, and started reading Wicked! I'm only about 40 pages in. I'm not sure how I feel about it yet. I'll probably like it more once the wicked witch is actually grown up and not just a baby.

I'm looking forward to February because it means a short month and being even closer to the end of winter. I can't wait to not have to wear a winter coat anymore!

  1. We are so in the same boat. I can't stand this winter either and I can't wait until it's over! I'm also in a weird limbo, where I really don't have a lot of control over a situation (moving...UGH) that I want to change ASAP. Hopefully 2014 is our year! <3

  2. I totally feel the same about that sense of waiting for change. It's funny because while I have that feeling, I also HATE change. It doesn't even make sense!

  4. Ooouh, Wicked is an awful, awful book. It's nothing like the musical, it drags on very much, and it's incredibly depressing, I don't think I could recommend it to anyone, despite being an avid reader and huge fan of the musical.

Besides that, I don't think I wished you a happy 4th anniversary for your blog! :) Two years here, but it's not much of a milestone as I haven't really moved much further from where I started.

  6. I definitely know how you feel about waiting for change and waiting just to plan for future things. It's pretty crappy but time flies by and who knows what a year from now will look like. I hope your wait is at least a pleasant one. It looks like it has been so far!
