Bare Trees

I'm going to try not to talk about the weather, but this whole snow and winter thing is getting to be a bit much. We pretty much get a few inches of snow once a week and it's extremely annoying. This week we got about maybe 7-8 inches in total. It's pretty to look at, but when you need to go out in the cold and clean off your car before you're fully conscious and then drive 20 miles per hour to avoid slipping on the stuff, it gets frustrating. Alright, end rant.

You know how I was talking about the fleece-lined tights I got from Urban Outfitters? Well these are the grey pair. I like this color the best since grey is pretty versatile. This is definitely one of the warmer outfits I have put together that doesn't involve jeans and a sweater. Sweater tights, knit thigh-his and riding boots are the way to go. Add a big comfy sweater and you are golden.

Speaking of golden, I couldn't resist wearing this gold leaf necklace again. It's so simple, yet so intricate and I really like it! It's an easy addition to any outfit, especially since the chain is long and I can just throw it over my head.

I like going down hiking trails into the woods on a weekday when no one is really there. It's a good place to just clear your head and enjoy the peace and quiet. Winter hikes aren't too bad if you dress right and the temperatures aren't below freezing. 35 degrees is tolerable for a winter hike, especially since all the walking keeps you warmer.

It's interesting to me how we have all of these moments that reside only in our heads and some of the them are completely our own. We have tons of moments to ourselves that are little secrets to the rest of the world. Of course, I don't mean the juicy "oh-my-god-she-did-what?!" kind of secrets. I just mean that having alone time somewhere in the world means you get to have time to make memories that only you get to keep and experiences that are yours alone, whether they are significant or not. You don't have to tell anyone about the hike you took and the calm you felt or the run you had that made you feel really awesome and energized. It's just yours and there's something really precious about that.

  2. Yes!! The aspect of having to drive in the snow and how it inconveniences everything is why I don't like it. Plus I'm always cold!!

  3. Yes, the snow does look very pretty, but I suppose that it would get to be quite annoying in that sense. I completely understand what you mean in regards to experiencing things in solitude and getting to keep those memories solely for yourself as something special. I've been thinking about that lately myself and I see it as something very precious in its own sense as well. You've taken some lovely pictures and you outfit looks so nice and warm too!

  4. Lovely photos. The snow is quite a pain, but it sure looks nice as a back drop for blog photos.

I also really like that necklace. Simple and elegant!
