Quick Pics

Despite the very long winter that March ended up being a part of, it was a pretty good month! At least I got to escape the cold for a bit when I went to Florida for the first week of the month. I posted a ton of pictures, but here's a little more extra ones from Instagram.

We went to Epcot, Downtown Disney, a giraffe ranch, and Kennedy Space Center! I love palm trees, so when I saw that little palm tree necklace at Forever 21, I had to get it and I had to wear it in Florida. It came in a set with another necklace that has a little flamingo on it too! :D

Of course, vacations have to come to an end and we had to come back home to the cold. My cousin and I attended our other cousin's baby shower the weekend after I got back. She's having a girl, so I thought it was appropriate to wear pink and purple to the shower.

Chris and I celebrated our 4 year anniversary this month! He made me some really cute flower crowns, got me a pair of shoes I wanted from ModCloth, and he got me Tagalongs. I had been craving Girl Scout cookies for weeks, so I was super excited when he gave them to me!

I got him a shirt with an all over print of the Eagle Nebula/Pillars of Creation on it. I also made him his favorite baked good that I make - apple cookies! I didn't know what to give them to him in, but then I found these Victoria's Secret boxes and decided that it would be silly to hand him that. He was confused when I gave him the pink striped box, but was psyched when he realized it was a bunch of cookies. Surpriiiise!

We celebrated our anniversary the weekend after with some awesome breakfast and a trip to a vineyard where I wore one of my awesome flower crowns. :) It was the perfect day to wear one because it actually felt like spring, for once. I also recently got this nautical print dress from ModCloth that I can't wait to style. I've been waiting for it to get warmer out so that it's not freezing by the beach where I'd like to take pictures.

The end of the month got really busy for me as I started my internship and am also working two jobs. It's a little stressful to adjust and accept that I just won't have as much free time until pretty much the end of the summer, but I will always have weekends so I always try to plan something fun and enjoyable to make the best of them! :)

Through The Grapevine

Last Saturday, Chris and I went to a vineyard to celebrate our anniversary! We went to do a wine tasting, but it wasn't really what I expected it to be. The place was nice and they also had a bistro where the food smelled delicious. I didn't really like the wines, except for one. I'm a fan of sweet and fruity so I liked the dessert wine they had, which I think they called a port. I'm not a huge wine drinker, but I want to find ones that I really like. So far I only really like Moscato, so I want to broaden my horizons.

The white wines all tasted the same and I didn't like them too much. They had all these delicious sounding flavors in them like apricot and lemon, but I couldn't taste any of it. And the red wines were the worst. It tasted like I was eating smoke or wood. But it could just be the way they make them. One of them had some sort of pepper flavor in it and I hated it. I could at least finish the white ones, but the red ones I just couldn't do. Maybe I would like more generic ones? I think we tried a Pinot Noir, which I thought was supposed to be fruity or berry-esque, but it wasn't. Maybe I'm expecting too much since I'm new to this, but I don't know.

The main reason that the wine tasting wasn't what I was expecting was that I didn't get to choose the wines I tasted. They had a giant list of options, but then they would just come around with the ones they chose. I don't know if this is standard practice at vineyards, but the wine tastings I've done at orchards that make their own wine let you choose the wines you want to taste. I also like the wines I've tasted at orchards, but maybe that's because they are usually fruit wines made with apples, strawberry, etc. I'm wondering if I just won't like traditional wines made with grapes and if I should just accept that...lol.

There weren't any grapes growing since it's still pretty chilly, so all the plants were bare. I'd like to go to more vineyards when it's really warmer out and maybe see the grapes and try my luck with more wine. It's a pretty inexpensive date, which is nice. This vineyard charged $15 and you got to keep the glass, but I know that other places charge only about $6 or $8! There's another one I want to go to that even has a picnic area, so that might be the next choice. They had wines that actually sounded really good and fruity, but I wanted to try more classic wines this time around.

Would you guess that Chris made this flower crown?! He made me three of them as one of my anniversary presents. :) One is just the yellow flowers, one is just the white, and then there's this one that's mixed. He knows me well. I love flower crowns, and I love having options...haha. He used hot glue, too, so they are pretty sturdy! He was also wearing one of his anniversary presents that day. I got him an all-over printed t-shirt of his favorite nebula with the Pillars of Creation! I'm so glad that he loved it. :)

The shoes I got in Florida at the outlet center that we always go to. They were on sale for only $35 from I think $70 or $80 and they were a color that I was sorta looking for, so I got them! I love the little silver detail on the heels. These were actually one of the only things I got in Florida, so I did pretty well at not spending a lot down there! By the way, my lipstick is by Too Faced and the shade is actually called Divine Wine, so that was very fitting for the day! :)

As I mentioned in a previous post, we had an awesome breakfast date before we went to the vineyard. It was really nice out, but pretty windy as you can tell from some of these pictures. There were definitely a lot of Marilyn moments whilst taking these pictures, as you can see from some of the ones above. The rest of the day was pretty relaxed, which is nice since our weeks can be pretty hectic. I love the weekends because I get a chance to both relax and explore. Oh, and sleep. :)

Swing The Day Away in the (Digital) Press!

Have you come across yours truly on the Interwebz lately? I have been submitting outfit photos to ModCloth's Style Gallery, and it has been such a great community to be a part of! You can check out my Style Gallery page here and follow along if you'd like! :)

I like it because it's a great way to find inspiration, and you can even shop the items (or similar ones) in the looks. I love that because sometimes I see an outfit and I'm like..."I wish I had that color sweater!" or "WHERE DO I GET THAT DRESS?!", but then voila! There it is! I've also had a small feature in the Style Gallery, as well small features around ModCloth's website, Facebook page, Pinterest page, and even in a couple of their newsletters!

You may have also seen me on Dear Creatures' Facebook page and Sugarhill Boutique's Facebook page, as well as Ruche's blog. It's so exciting to be featured by shops and brands that I truly admire and believe in. I love that these companies interact with their customers and fans, and they do a lot for them! A lot of them will actually tweet back to you if you mention them, or they will retweet and favorite your tweets. It's awesome! I know ModCloth almost always has some fun thing going on, usually a contest for their fans to enter and win gift certificates. Awesome, right?! Who doesn't want a ModCloth gift certificate? Well, maybe it's not on the top of the list for most dudes, but if I had it my way, I'd have an endless amount. ;)

Speaking of contests... ModCloth is currently hosting a contest called Twirl Around the World. It's running now through March 31st at 1 pm EST. They are going to pick two winners (one from Instagram and one from their Style Gallery) and each winner is going to get a $350 gift certificate (I'm drooling). To enter, you can post a photo on Instagram of yourself twirling around in a pretty dress and use the hashtag #modtwirl in the caption. The second way to enter is to simply upload a picture of yourself twirling in a pretty dress to ModCloth's Style Gallery. That's it. Just be sure to get your entries in by the 1 pm deadline on the 31st! I love to do twirling shots, so I have a lot of pictures that I'm planning on entering...lol. Fingers crossed! :D
