Phew. October was a CRAZY month. This weekend I didn't do much at all, and I really needed the break. I needed to stay in bed until 2 in the afternoon and not do much except go shopping, though I did go to a Halloween party last night. Yesterday was rainy and gross out, so it was a perfect day to stay in bed for the majority of the day and do nothing.







Anyway...so October was super busy, as it always is since it's my favorite month and the best time of the year to do all things fall and Halloweeny. On the 1st, I went all out and dyed my hair dark, watched Hocus Pocus, made pumpkin bread, ate apple pie, and made sure to listen to Thriller at least 3 times. I went pretty hard. On the first weekend of the month I went on a trip to the orchard with a group of friends and got some apple cider.







The second weekend of October was spent in Vermont! We went up for the long Columbus Day weekend. We got to see a lot and explore a bunch, plus we got to go to the Woodchuck Cidery, which was awesome.











When I got back, I went right into spooky mode and did a photoshoot with makeup that Sarah did for me. I love doing themed shoots, particularly for Halloween time.





My 25th birthday was this month, and that took over the third weekend of the month. My birthday was a Friday, and I happened to have the afternoon off. Chris and I went to a pumpkin patch and a state park and went out to dinner. My boss at one of my jobs actually surprised me by having Chris and my parents and my niece all come in for cupcakes. Then when I got home from dinner with Chris, I came home to an awesome surprise party with all my friends, which was the best present ever.





On the Sunday after my birthday, we went pumpkin picking and I got a huge, round pumpkin that I love. I also got a couple of baby white pumpkins that they called Baby Boos. I love the small pumpkins. I think they're so cute. We also took a drive and explored a state forest afterwards as well.











The next weekend was super jam-packed with Halloween-goodness. Chris and I saw a performance of Rocky Horror Picture Show live, which was SO much fun. I wish I could go see it all the time. Ashley and I also had a Halloween party at our place that weekend, so a bunch of our friends came over for that and we all dressed up in costumes. We made snacks and punch and decorated the apartment, which I love to do. I was Poison Ivy this year, and at first I wasn't too thrilled with my costume but when I wore it all together, I loved it. I never wore a wig before and while they can be a little annoying, it's kinda fun to try out different hair for a bit. I enjoyed the red.





We also went to Salem that weekend, and although we had a late start, it was still a good time. I wish we had gotten to see more, but we did a lot of shopping in all the neat shops they have and we got scared by Jason Voorhees, so there's that. I had to wear my Hocus Pocus necklace, of course.





The week of Halloween, I had my Harry Potter program at the library. It was my first program with younger kids (ages 8-12), and it went well. I sorted them into houses and I had made ties out of felt for them to wear. I also had they make a potion and I had made pumpkin juice for them to drink. I also read them a story from The Tales of Beedle the Bard. They were skeptical of what all of my ingredients REALLY were (for instance, I had vinegar as one of the potion ingredients, but I labeled it Dragon Tears), but once they were finally able to finish their potions and watch them explode, they were super excited. I dressed up like Hermione and brought my wand in and everything and they were all calling me Ms. Granger. It was a lot of fun and now I have to do another Harry Potter one in the winter!





I got to dress up all week at the library, so I dressed up as Minnie Mouse, Snow White, and then Poison Ivy. I wore a bodysuit and skirt for Poison Ivy at work, though, since my costume dress is pretty short. Ashley and her boyfriend and Chris and I carved pumpkins the night before Halloween and I love how mine came out. I am all for the traditional toothy Jack O' Lantern. We lit them all once we were done and I loved how they all looked lit up. Ashley baked the seeds after, too, and we snacked on them while we watched a stupid horror movie.









On Halloween, I attempted to hand out candy to the kids in my neighborhood, but our apartment is not really in a position for kids to easily access. I tried standing out by the street, but I didn't have a light to indicate that it was a place where kids should stop for candy. I ended up going to Chris's house to try to hand out candy there, but he's at the end of his street where there are less houses and we didn't get a lot of kids there. At least I got to hand out a few. After that, we went to Chipotle to take advantage of the $3 burritos if you go in costume.



Last night our friend had an awesome Halloween party, which I helped plan with a bunch of other people too. We had catered food, drinks, a DJ, and costume prizes. Sarah actually won Best Female Costume and Chris one Funniest Costume. Sarah was Princess Bubblegum, and she looked so cute. She even painted herself pink! It was a fun night, and I'm glad we were able to pull it off.



I'm sad that October and Halloween is over, but it was definitely a great month with great weather, great parties, great costumes, and a lot of fun. The store are already getting ready for Christmas, which is crazy, but I'd be lying if I said I haven't already started thinking about what I'm going to wear for Christmas, what I'm going to get people, and how big of a tree we will get. But for now, it's time to focus on relaxing a bit and then enjoying Thanksgiving. :)
