Vintage Autumn

A lovely local vintage clothing shop recently lent me some pieces to play dress up in and photograph, and I'm really excited about it! She chose me as one of a few guest curators, so she will have a special rack with all my chosen pieces to have people buy from.

The vintage pieces in this outfit include the sweater, skirt, purse, and belt, so it's an almost all-vintage outfit! I chose the sweater because I love mustard yellows in the fall. It's such a great shade for the season. Plus, I loved the cute little pocket, the baby turtleneck, and it's actually kind of cropped. It reminded me a lot of Marilyn Monroe's more casual clothes.

The skirt has such gorgeous colors in it, and the pattern is great. It's also a great length for the colder seasons. I love all the colors in it because it makes it such a very versatile piece that can be paired with a lot of different pieces and styled many different ways!

The purse is a great size to carry the essentials in (phone, money, keys, some makeup), or even to use as a camera bag. I like that it's not too flashy and it's very practical. I always use brown leather purses, so this suits me well.

I love the color of the belt, but I especially love the detail in the back. It sort of looks like it wraps together, which gives it a neat and subtle flair. It's a small detail, but a sort of unique one which I like.

I have more outfits to come with the vintage pieces. I can't wait to share some more of them with you. I don't have very many vintage pieces because A. They are usually expensive (especially online) and B. There's probably only about 5 vintage shops that I know of around here and some of them are a bit of a drive, so I don't have a lot of options for shopping vintage locally. I'm just glad that we have the few that we do so I can get my vintage fix! It's hard to buy vintage because when you find something you love and it doesn't fit, then you can't just get it in another size. There's a lot of heartbreak that comes with shopping vintage when you find a beautiful dress and realize when you put it on that it doesn't fit right. But then there's that moment when you find a beauty that fits perfectly and it's just so exciting. :)

  2. Hooray for cute vintage pieces! I thrifted a couple sweaters like yours last year except without the cute pocket. I love this yellow one. It looks wonderful with the plaid skirt! Such a gorgeous autumnal outfit.
