You and Me, Under The Apple Tree

I should be doing homework right now, but I am a notorious procrastinator so alas! Here I am!

Chris and I went apple picking two weekends ago before he went back to Boston. I love going apple picking: A. Because I love apples. B. Because it's such an autumny thing to do. C. Apple orchards are just so cute and country-esque. They're so pretty and peaceful...if there's not too many people at the orchard that day. There's something exciting about picking fruit right off a tree. It's such a simple little pleasure. When I have my own house someday, I want to plant an apple tree in my yard...or possibly have a lot of land and have my own tiny apple orchard. :) They make me think of simpler times.

We picked so many apples! I plan to make a pie which is exciting because apple pie is my favorite pie. Actually, it's pretty much the only pie I'll eat. I'm definitely more of a cake person.

We found a baby apple that is sitting on my dresser at this very moment. It's so small and cute! I want to preserve it forever, but I can only find information on how to preserve cut apples. :\

We used the good ol' self timer and took a couple of pictures under one of the apple trees. The title of this entry is a lyric from one of my all-time favorite songs. Chris knew this and suggested we take some pictures together under an apple tree. He's a keeper. :)

[Nom nom nom.]

Along with our apples, we each got a little bottle of apple cider. They make it with the fresh apples and it's the best cider I've ever had. I wish I bought a bigger bottle! Sarah wants to go apple picking and Meaghan and I have been going every year for the past couple of years now, so hopefully I'll be going back very soon!

Unexpected Hiatus

I pretty much suck at this whole blogging thing. I'm so inconsistent and just all around lazy. It's not like I haven't been taking ANY pictures. I just haven't been taking outfit pictures, although I do have some outfits that need to be properly photographed. My friend Sarah and I are doing a photoshoot tomorrow which I'm very excited for!

My blog tends to be more fashion-related, but it's also meant to be a bit personal-a little glimpse into my life and mind. So I feel like I need to start sharing more of my every day life...as boring as it may be. I'm a creative and silly person, so I don't know why I can't convey that over to here. When I really think about it, I can chalk it up to three things: plain laziness, being distracted by all of my other responsibilities, and being distracted by my emotional struggles. I'm at a part in my life where I'm going through a lot of change. I'm graduating college in the spring and I need to start making a lot of big scary life decisions...which I've never been good at. I've also realized that I'm still trying to find myself and that I'm completely hung up on trying to become the person I want to be...which leads to me worrying that I won't ever become her. The bottom line is that I am completely anxiety-ridden and it's been weighing me down.

So I am sorry that I haven't been a good blogger. I want to make this blog the best it can be and right now it's just not. I can keep telling myself that I will make it better and blog more...but what usually happens is that I blog more often for about a week and then just put it aside. I think I need to accept the fact that this blog will happen when it happens. Maybe I'm not ready to be as devoted to my blog as I'd like to be. Maybe we need to see other people for now or maybe I really just need to twist my own arm. This is something I want to do and I don't know why I'm not doing it. There's nothing stopping me except myself.

In case you've been wondering what I've been up to over the past month, here is a little pictorial review:

Shoving a giant Pikachu into my car after Chris won it at Six Flags. Our friends were stuck in the backseat with it. haha.

Spending a day shopping in NYC with Chris, Nadia, and her boyfriend Jon.

[Pizza cone.]

Posing with my new Adventure Time shirt! :D...

...As well as my new penguin shirt.

Being silly in parks with Sarah.

It is officially autumn today! Autumn is my favorite season and I don't think it will ever be possible for me to put into words how I feel about it. I have such a deep love for the season. Speaking of autumny goodness...Chris and I went apple picking on Sunday! But more on that in my next post. :)

Solitude.

Lately, I've been in desperate need of "me" time. I've spent the entire summer hanging out with friends and now I just need to recharge. Not that I don't like hanging out with my friends. I just haven't been taking myself out or going on adventures alone. It's always more fun with someone, but sometimes there's just not anyone I want to be with that day. Sometimes I just feel like being alone.
So...on Friday I took the drive to this really awesome vintage store that's about a half hour away. There were tons of cute dresses, but none fit or looked right on me. On the plus side, I got to drive up my favorite highway. I love that part of the highway because it goes through all the cute little beach towns.

On my way home, I stopped at one of my favorite places that I have ever been to. It's this little area at the beginning of a hiking trail where there is a tree swing!

I adore it so much. It's really peaceful to sit there and swing, especially on a warm summer day when the weather is just right-not too hot or humid. It overlooks the water too! Although, there are some bushes in the way. But there's a little path that leads down to the water where there are rocks to sit on.

I felt so content with just being able to swing and be alone with my thoughts. It was refreshing. it really helps with rearranging all the clutter in my brain. I never really realize how much I love going out by myself sometimes until I actually do it. I took myself out to lunch to my favorite diner after work on Monday too! :)

I've been slacking on the outfit posts. I actually tried to take some while I was there, but I had no place to put the camera where I could get a good shot (I don't have a tripod). Hopefully Chris will be so kind as to take some for me while he's home for his break. :)

Carny

One thing I love about summer is cute little festivals or carnivals. My favorite part is the fried dough. :) Meaghan and I went to a local potato festival (it was really just a carnival) and I took a few pictures. I love pictures of carnival/amusement park structures, especially older ones.

[Meaghan won a frog!]

Hope everyone's weekend was maginificent! :)

Photo Adventure With Chris

I got a new camera a couple of weeks ago! Naturally that meant going a little photo crazy with Chris, who was home the weekend after I got it. Some of the photos were taken by him. :) The camera is a Leica D-LUX 4. I want to get the guidebook for it because it's really intimidating.
Chris and I started our day off at the grand opening of his family's sub shop. They were giving away free subs, but by the time we got there, they were all out. We did end up getting free and very delicious burgers. :)

[One of the subs!]

[Chris. Also, note the mustachioed Domo]

After we ate, we ventured to this cute little park in the next town over. It has a roundabout, which I loved because I've never been on one or even seen one in person before. Now that I've been on it, I realize that I could've gone without it. I got so dizzy that I felt nauseous. It was still cute to see and photograph though.

We also played on the swings and seesaw and then sat on a bench for a while and giggled at the funny things that the little kids said.

Later on, we went to a different park where there's a bluff that overlooks the city. We watched the sunset there. :) It was really pretty. We found a spot on the rocks to sit and look at the stars and the city all lit up while we talked and took more pictures.

While the sun was setting, we decided to take pictures of each other...which really turned into me taking a buttload of pictures of Chris.

[Always being risky!]

I went a little overboard with shooting him, so I'll just share a few of my favorites. :)

I haven't done an outfit post in a while, but I plan to take some tomorrow or Friday if the rain doesn't get in my way. I have a couple more little day trip posts to do though! I'm trying to plan a lot and cram in a lot of things since I only have 2 more weeks of summer break left. :\
