Wishing I Were Elsewhere

I have a thirst for travel. I can't ever get enough of it - figuratively and literally. I'd love to travel all over the world, but I don't really have the money to do that. I know there are articles all over the place about how people have travelled the world for very little money, but I'm not sure how I'd go about that. I don't think my personality calls for staying in hostels (I like my space) or hitchhiking (I'm way too paranoid) or any of that stuff. 

The place I'd love to go the most is New Zealand. Ever since I discovered Lord of the Rings in high school and found out that's where they shot the movies, that's where I've wanted to go. Of course the nerdy part of me wants to go to do the Lord of the Rings tours, but after finding out what New Zealand has to offer, I just fell in love. The landscapes there are breath-taking, pristine, and so diverse. Snow-capped mountain ranges, rainforests, long stretches of green fields and pastures. They also have a reputation as one of the safest countries with one of the lowest crime rates in the world. I imagine that the people there are just so nice, friendly, and welcoming. I also like to imagine what my trip there would be like, and the excitement I'd feel when I finally step foot on one of their beautiful islands.

I have many travel goals other than New Zealand. I'd love to go to Europe and visit England, Italy, France, Ireland, and Germany. I'd also like to go to Australia. The easiest goal to accomplish would probably be that I'd like to visit every single state in the U.S. I'd especially like to go to Hawaii, which is where this dress comes in. It has hibiscuses and even has 'Aloha' written all over it! I wore it to my friend's annual luau party. I love how it's just a tad tacky without going completely overboard. It's like the girly version of one of those hawaiian shirts that guys wear.

One of the things I'd really love to see most that I feel would just be completely unreal is the Eiffel Tower. You always see it in movies, pictures, paintings, etc. But actually being there and seeing it in person would just be so magical. I hope I get to experience that someday. I wonder if that's how people from other countries feel about places here in America. I think that when you live near these things, you tend to sort of take advantage of it and sort of forget how special and symbolic they are.

I took these pictures at the beach a town over from mine. Chris and I climbed up to these rocks that overlook everything. It's really peaceful and nice up there, especially during the summer when the beach is all a-bustle and you kind of just want to get away. Chris sat and drew while I broke out my Gorillapod and took some pictures on my own.

I'm hoping for some autumn weather soon, but it's still summery here. The town's fall festival was this weekend. I went last night and this afternoon and had some yummy fried dough! I love fall festivals and I love that there's so many to go to! I'm going to try out some new ones this year and I'm sure that I'll fall in love (see what I did there?) with them all.
