Renaissance Faire

Good day! This past weekend, I went to a Renaissance faire with Chris and my friend Nadia. It was really neat. We got to eat giant turkey legs, watch jousting, and do archery! They also had spear, dagger, and hatchet throwing as well, but we didn't get around to doing it. I'm just happy with my giant turkey leg. It's one of my favorite things to eat. I just like being able to hold it with my hand and bite at it. Something about the barbaric nature of it is appealing to me...lol.

Chris brought his ukulele to play Greensleeves while we wandered around. We eventually came across this man dressed up as a dragon who gave me and Nadia these beaded necklaces and told us that we were now princesses of the Faire. He also told Chris that he needed to buy us "shinies" now (meaning jewlery)...haha. It's really awesome how into it everyone is who works there, volunteers there, and attends. It was such a fun atmosphere and community!

For the occasion, I thought I'd wear this peasant dress that I won on eBay about 4 or 5 years ago. I rarely wear it now, so it felt good to let it see the light of day. It definitely didn't help to keep me warm, though. It got so cold as the day progressed! It wasn't very warm out and the wind kept blowing, so I had to wear my coat a lot of the time. I don't know if that's why, but I ended up getting sick that night and am still feeling a little under the weather with some sort of throat virus. :\ But I'm on antibiotics, so I should be feeling a lot better soon.

There was this comedy troupe that performed a spoof of Hamlet that was really hilarious. It was sort of like the comedy style of Monty Python or Mel Brooks. It made me really miss being in drama club in high school. Acting is so much fun! We watched a jousting show, which was definitely more toned down than actual jousting, and Chris met the king. He was very jovial and silly, as were many of the people there.

I wish I had gotten more pictures, but I was so cold that I didn't even want to hold my camera. My fingers and nose were numb! I was also just so distracted in general by looking at everything and taking everything in. Sometimes I just completely forgot that I should be taking pictures! At least I still got a few good ones. :)
