Our power is finally back on after getting it knocked out by Sandy! Was anyone else graced with Sandy's presence? We felt a portion of her wrath these last couple of days. It started on Monday morning when the winds were really strong. There was flooding on the coast near the beaches before it even started raining, and it didn't help that the tides were already high from the full moon. Luckily, we didn't experience any flooding at my house. However, we did lose power. We lost it Monday afternoon and it didn't come back until this evening. I did a lot of reading by candlelight and a lot of going outside to explore the damage and to see what was still open. I hadn't showered since Sunday until today and I had to go to various places to mooch off other peoples' power and Internet.
I'm so glad to have power back now and I'm thankful that going a couple of days without power (and showering) was the only thing I had to endure. I know that lots of people are going through much worse because of the storm, so I'm hoping that they're doing ok!
I have a lot of posts to catch up on, so hopefully I can find time to get them up. I'm leaving for Florida next week and I still have yet to pack. I'm such a procrastinator... My friend and I will be there for 10 days! I'm a little nervous because I've never flown anywhere without my family, but I'm also really excited too. It's definitely going to be an adventure. :)
I'm really glad that if Sandy had to happen that it happened this week so that it didn't mess up our trip. She did mess up Halloween, though. There was no trick-or-treating tonight. It got postponed to next week, so I'm going to miss out on handing out candy. This is the second year that Halloween got cancelled due to weather. It just didn't feel like Halloween today, which makes me sad because it's one of my favorite holidays and the perfect way to farewell October. Oh well. I still wore my costume and celebrated in my own way. :)
Happy Halloween, everyone. I hope you all had a good one!
