Spring Colors & Oranges

On our first day here in Florida, my parents and I went to Showcase of Citrus, which is an awesome citrus orchard where you can pick your own! We came here last year too, and my friend Nadia and I went when we were here in November. I love orchards in general, but I love this one especially. It's big and vast and smells so good! We got some oranges and grapefruits and I've never tasted a better grapefruit. There's really nothing like fresh fruit from the tree. It's one of my favorite things! But first, some pictures of the grounds of where we're staying...

Alright, back to the orchard! It's always so pretty there and I love how the bright colors of the fruits look in all the greenery. Sometimes I just want to build a house in the middle of an orchard and live there, picking and eating fresh fruits every day!

They have some animals at the orchard, including horses. I really like horses. I think they're beautiful and majestic. I kind of wish I had my own horse, but they are a lot of maintenance. I used to take horseback riding lessons when I was a kid, but it didn't last long since it was pretty expensive. I'd love to ride one again someday. These guys were hanging out by the fence, so I got to pet one of them and say hello! I really wanted to just ride him around the orchard, grabbing oranges as I fly by the trees.

I am so ready for spring that I couldn't wait to wear some spring colors, hence the yellow and teal combo. This is one of my favorite dresses. I feel like I say that a lot, but it's true! I have a select few dresses that I love more than the others (sorry other dresses!). It's like they have their own special elite dress club. This particular one is comfy, polka-dotted, and has a flared skirt, so naturally it made the cut.

Another thing I love about Showcase of Citrus is all the yummy-looking locally made foodstuffs they sell. By the way, I love using the word 'foodstuff'. They have local honey, jams, sauces and salsas. They also have meats and produce. I see a lot more fresh produce stands down here than I do back home. I love that about the South. Just one of the many reasons I love it down here and would love to live here.

I hear that there might be a snowstorm coming back home this week and I'm so glad to be missing it. It's going to be in the 70s the rest of the week! On the day we went to the orchard, it was the most perfect day weather-wise. Warm with clear skies. The best. I wish it could be this way all year round forever.

  2. Looks like you're having fun! I personally love orchards. There's this really nice one out in the country that my family usually goes to - they have apples, raspberries, plums, peaches and black berries. It's such a nice, quiet place and the drive out there is *gorgeous*! <3

I'm glad you're having fun on your trip, and I can't wait to see more pictures from it!

  5. You know what I've NEVER done? Eaten a Florida orange. All the ones in the grocery and stuff around Orlando are from Mexico. Hah! This looks like so much fun though I can't believe we never though to do this! And I have my favorite dresses too - like a good 10 or so I wear a lot and could never part with! This yellow polka dot one is adorable - I love the little teal belt with it. So fun and sunny....I wanna be in Florida now!
