Hi Ho! Cherry-O

One of my goals for this summer was to go cherry picking. I've never picked those before, so I was super excited to finally get to. There's only a few orchards around here that have pick-your-own cherries, so we had to go about 45 min to an hour away to get to the orchard, but it was definitely worth it. They had so many cherries on their trees, and they were all so ripe and delicious (we did a lot of "taste-testing" as we picked). I was very pleased with their crops!

We also picked blueberries and those too were very ripe, large, and tasty. I didn't have time to bake anything with them, so they just served as healthy snacks after I brought them home. I can eat so many in one sitting that it's kind of ridiculous. It's really bad when it's raspberries that I'm eating. I can go through a package of those in a day or two. I plan to pick those soon too!

The only clothing I have that has any sort of cherry print on it is this cropped sweater from Forever 21 that I got last year. Since it's too hot for a sweater, I decided to finally wear my milkshake print dress from Modcloth that I got months ago. It technically does have cherries on it since all of the little milkshakes have cherries on top! A plus was that the open back helped to keep me a little cooler too.

Orchards really are the best places. One day I hope to have a lot of land where I can grow all types of fruits and vegetables. Sometimes I think it'd be cool to run my own little orchard or farm stand one day. Fresh food is always the best kind. :)

I am currently doing a week long residency for grad school to do two intensive courses in one week. It's a little crazy, but it was mandatory and I am meeting a ton of new, awesome people! Since I won't be available much during this time, I have appointed two awesome bloggers to fill in and do some guest posts here for this week. I know you all will enjoy their posts. I really appreciate them helping me out and giving all of my amazing readers something fun to read.

Things should be back to normal around here again once my residency is over next week. The summer semester is over in the beginning of August, but then the fall semester starts at the end of August. Speaking of fall, I'm very much ready for it. With 90 degree temperatures every day and tons of thunderstorms and humidity, I'm pretty much over summer. I just want cooler temperatures, colorful leaves, Halloween, apple picking, and pumpkin-flavored treats. Can it just be autumn year-round? I mean, come on.

  2. This looks like so much fun! I don't think there's anywhere near me where you can pick cherries but there are definitely a few places for strawberries so I'll have to look into it :) I love your dress as well. Good luck with your residency :)

  5. Wow, I love the photos in this post, and your whole outfit. I am really into milkshakes (even had milkshake toasts at my wedding) and so I already liked the dress and then, boom, it has that detailed back! This is going on my list of wishes. Also, the cherries look delicious! I love picking fresh fruit, it always tastes so much nicer than the supermarket.

  6. Cherry picking is so fun! I don't have to go anywhere since I have a cherry tree in my backyard, but my family does go strawberry picking a lot. Perfect outfit for cherry picking as well--so cute!

  7. I love pick-your-own orchards and farms so much! We usually do apple picking or pumpkin patches in the fall, but I've never thought to go cherry picking. I need to look into this immediately! Your dress is perfect for the event, too! xo
