Halloween is one week away! I thought this post would be appropriate to really get into the spirit of the holiday. I don't want to say much this entry because I want to let the pictures really be the focus, but here are a few little tidbits about this shoot:
1. Finally, here is the debut of my dark hair! This shoot was actually done the first day that I had dyed it, so it looks super dark. It looks black, but it's actually a medium brown. It's been over two weeks now and has lightened a little since then. It will probably be completely washed out after another two weeks. I'm considering just dying it again because I really love this color and I'm having fun with it!
2. This is the dress I got from Windsor that was on sale for $10 when it was originally $100. It is going to be my Christmas dress, but I kept having visions of doing this subtly spooky and eerie photoshoot while wearing it. I envisioned this lost, wandering soul who you're not sure what happened to. A gaunt and haunting girl in a bright red dress. I liked the contrast and the color red has so many meanings and great symbolism to it. The Masque of the Red Death kept coming to mind. I originally wanted to do the shoot in the woods, but it rained that day and the woods would've been too muddy. We opted for a cemetery instead.
3. Sarah did the make-up once again! I really loved the way it came out, with my eyes really being the focus. We were going for gaunt and haunting, but not too disgusting and zombie-like. Joey ended up showing up last minute and wanted to participate, so Sarah did his make-up too. He quickly changed into a suit and we trudged on over to the cemetery where it was misting, but not really raining. It gave a very cool effect and vibe for the photos, I think. Once it started to rain a little more, we called it a day and headed to Starbucks. Joey and I went in just like this and ordered our drinks. People stared, but since it's October I'm sure they just figured we were doing something Halloween-y.
I had a lot of fun shooting this and I hope you enjoy the results! :)
