Inspired by Hogwarts: Slytherin

Ah, yes. Slytherin. The most "evil" of the houses. The house that produces the most dark wizards. The house that Voldemort was in. They are known to be cunning, ambitious, and power-hungry. Although I'm sure they're not all bad, it's hard to really find Slytherins appealing. Of course, the best character and my favorite character in the whole series is Snape, who was a Slytherin.

Severus Snape has a rough life. He was constantly bullied and had to watch the woman he loved (Lily) choose and be with another man. A man who teased him in school, and who he didn't like. Then he had to protect this man's son because he loved Lily so much. Snape had to act like a complete jerk even though deep down, he really isn't. Bitter, perhaps. But cruel, no. This is a man who put his life on the line to betray and work in secret against the most powerful dark wizard ever. He had to put up with everyone hating him and thinking the worst of him. He risked everything to protect Harry, all while pretending he hated him. He may have very well not really liked him, but he did dedicate his life to protecting him knowing that if he were found out, he would be killed on the spot. He lived the life of a double agent and had to bare this burden until his undeserved death. This guy was truly badass. He outsmarted Voldemort! I mean, come on!

I find that old college campuses are pretty Hogwarts-esque, so I used one for the location for this shoot. I really wanted to incorporate gothic architecture, especially for the Slytherin shoot. I really love gothic architecture, and I love old buildings in general. Buildings and places that have a history to them that go back hundreds of years are always so interesting and intriguing.

Slytherin's colors are green and silver. My shoes are more grey, but I figured it's not a big deal. I already wore my silvery tights for my Ravenclaw outfit and didn't want to reuse them again. Their mascot is the serpent, which seems very fitting to their house traits. I know there are people who love Slytherin, but I'm not really one of them. I can't stand Draco Malfoy 98% of the time, and I can't stand that Pansy Parkinson either!

This is the last post for my outfits inspired by Hogwarts/Harry Potter! I had fun styling outfits based on the house colors. I might try to figure out some other fun themes like this to try to base outfits around. Anything you'd want to see/think would be interesting? Let me know in the comments! :)

  1. I am absolutely loving your Harry Potter series! So. AWESOME. Harry Potter is definitely my favorite books - may or may not be getting a Deathly Hallows tattoo. :) Even though, I'm a Hufflepuff gal myself, I think that Slytherin and Ravenclaw have been my favorite outfit of yours - so cute!

  2. Yeah I'm not a huge Slytherin fan either, but Snape is a bad ass. I've loved your Harry Potter inspired outfit series. You've looked so cute in every one of the outfits. This location for these outfit pictures is perfect for a Harry Potter outfit too! I love old architecture like that.

  5. Loved this HP series :) Yes Snape was way too inteligent for Voldemort. I always had a kind of love hate relationship. My opinion his that he really was a corageous and hearted person who had the most dificult life, however I think that some atitudes he had with people for example Harry ( who reminded him a lot like his gather) I think he really enjoyed some stuff he did. Anyway he is one of the best characters of the book :) This outfit it's perfect! And the tights: love them!
