The end of the year is so jam-packed with holidays it seems. Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's. That's four major holidays within roughly a two month span. I'm already dipping into a little bit of Christmas music, making a list of possible presents for people, looking up pie recipes for Thanksgiving and cookie recipes for Christmas, AND trying to figure out what I'm going to wear for them both. I always end up feeling so constricted in whatever I'm wearing for Thanksgiving after eating everything in the world, so this year I'm going to try to wear something more comfortable. I love dressing up for the holidays and choosing color schemes that match them, though. My goal will be to be dressy, yet comfy.
I want to make 349872 desserts for Thanksgiving, but I will probably only end up making one or two. I'd like to make a pie since I never really do, but I also want to make the pumpkin bread I always make. There are three different pies I have in mind, too. Two of them are pumpkin-based. Pumpkin is really the best flavor for fall. It feels wrong to eat pumpkin things in any other season, so I gotta get my fix while the right season is here!
The thing about pies (and cakes) is that you can't taste-test them before you serve them. You can't just show up with a pie or a cake that has a piece cut out of it. It also means that I have to wait until the pie or cake is served elsewhere to be able to take a picture of what a piece of it looks like. This can mean I end up with bad lighting or a poor background (such as a paper plate). These are the risks and chances you take when you make a pie...haha.

This year went by so fast. I can't believe it's already November and Christmas is next month. With all of the preparation for these holidays, it makes the end of the year go by even faster than the rest of it did. Pretty soon it'll be 2014, which almost makes my head spin with the thought of "What the hell happened to 2013?!". No, seriously. Where did it go?
Our leaves just are now changing so I'm hoping to get some fall pictures this weekend. I just love how these turned out. They're the epitome of fall and your outfit is adorable too. You styled this cat print dress perfectly with those pumpkin-colored tights. I love everything about this post!
ReplyDeleteOMG I have the same dress :) xx

Now that I think of, it's so true what you said. We don't have thanksgiving here in Portugal but we have in 1 of November the all saints day. A day to go and visit the cemiteries as a little gesture for the dead people. But has you said, in a two month spam we have 4 major holidays. And in the rest of the year they are so dispersed. I'm already listening to christmas music too and gathering the classic disney too see: christmas without Disney doesn't smells at christmas at all, at least for me.
ReplyDeleteLove the combination of that jacket with the dress :)
