Quick Pics

October might've been the busiest month I've had this year. I made a ton of plans all month to make sure I got to enjoy every bit that I could of the perfect autumn that we've been having. Autumn is the most inspiring season to me. It always gets my creative juices flowing and gives me incredible inspiration for outfits and more. It's just such a magical time of the year, full of color and whimsy, especially with Halloween being in the same season. It's also such a warm and soothing season, I feel. It makes you want to get cozy and consume comfort foods and drinks like chai lattes and hot soups. It's the beauty and wonderfulness we get before the awful bitterness of winter happens. Don't get me wrong, I am a huge fan of Christmas and the Christmas season. I am that person who listens to Christmas music non-stop from the minute they start playing it on the radio until the day after Christmas. There's nothing like Christmastime, just like there's nothing like autumn and October.

Just as I listen to non-stop Christmas music for a month, I also listened to non-stop Halloween music this month. I got lazy with the downloading, so I only really had five songs that I listened to on repeat all month. I also tried to surround myself with pumpkins and pumpkin stuff as much as possible this month.

One thing I was excited about this month was that I dyed my hair a darker brown! It's a demi-permanent, so it's supposed to wash out in 24 washes or so. It's now been about 25 washes later and the color is still there. It's not as dark as before, but it's definitely still there. I'm still contemplating whether or not I should do it again for the winter. I did it the day we did the spooky shoot in the graveyard, so hence the make-up in the first picture.

I traveled a lot this month. Not big trips, but little day trips on my days off. Sometimes they were only about a half hour away, and then sometimes they were a couple of hours or more. They were all to see the fall foliage. Some of the more notable places I went were Vermont and Salem. I already posted about Salem and the Hocus Pocus film locations, but I still need to post about my trip to Vermont! By the way, the lipstick that I wore to Salem is called "Wicked", which I thought was very appropriate.

This month I had my 24th birthday! I had a party with all my friends and it was a blast. I wore my cat dress for the party since it's one of my favorites. On my actual birthday, my co-workers surprised me with a homemade cake, a dozen cupcakes from my favorite local bakery, and a birthday tiara. It was so sweet (literally!) and awesome! And every year, my mom makes me one of my favorite dinners and then we have some family over for cake. This year my mom made me a pumpkin cake, and it was delicious. :)

Autumn is my favorite time to go hiking! It's the perfect temperature since it's not too hot and not too cold. It's also pretty to walk through the woods because of all the leaves changing. I went a couple of times this month and brought Tiara with me too!

And as we all know, one of the best things about October is Halloween! This year I was Minnie Mouse. I got my costume on eBay and was really excited about it. It fit great, although it was not the warmest or most comfiest thing to wear since it's a corset, but it wasn't that bad. I was very pleased with it. It came with not-so-good quality ears, but luckily I already had better ears that I had picked up for a dollar at a flea market two years ago. I used those instead. I got to wear my costume three times, which isn't bad. I carved my pumpkin the day before Halloween and yesterday I got to hand out candy for a little bit until I went to Chipotle for their Halloween $3 "boorito" deal. Afterwards, I watched Halloween 6, which was weird and lame since it's the 6th in a series of a man who just won't die, but it was something horror-related to watch. I ended the night with Hocus Pocus, of course. :)

I've already been thinking about what I want to be next year for Halloween. I'm hoping to be something warmer and comfier. I was thinking Catwoman, but I'm not sure. I'll probably think of 20 other things I want to be before the time comes again. For now, October is over and while I'm always sad to see it go, I'm very happy with the great things I did all month. I feel like I really was able to enjoy the height of autumn this year, which is something that makes me happier than most other things. I don't know if being born in autumn makes me have this sort of deep connection to it or what, but it's the time of year when I'm the most joyous. Now comes November where I will turn my attention towards counting down to when I can stuff my face full of turkey, mashed potatoes, and pie and start my Christmas shopping!

  2. Autumn is definitely the most exciting/inspiring time of year for me, too! You were quite a busy gal in October, I love seeing all that you accomplished. And your Minnie Mouse costume is adorable!
