Oh, how I wish I had a time machine. I would love to see the world before all this modernization and technology happened. I'd love to see my hometown and places like New York City in those years and even further back to when they were first built. I find it so alluring and fascinating.
I'd also love to travel back in time to see what my grandparents and parents were like when they were younger and my age. I feel like it'd shine a whole new light on the people that they are today. It'd be so interesting to see them before I was even a thought in their heads. Before they were parents and were just young adults figuring out life the same as I am now.
By the way, wouldn't it be great to go back in time and go shopping? Vintage dresses, galore! I used to spend hours on eBay trying to find vintage dresses and getting in bidding wars during the final moments of the auctions. I haven't done that in years. With everything I got going on, I don't have time to do that. It's also just so intimidating to try to create the perfect search to find the exact thing you're looking for. I feel the same way about Etsy. Etsy is full of vintage clothing. So much so that I don't even know where to begin. A simple search like "blue 50's dress" could come up with thousands of results. Plus, vintage is really expensive. It's rare to find a store that actually sells vintage clothing at affordable prices. I always marvel at the affordable vintage treasures that Alexandra of Into The Woods finds. She is always finding great Etsy stores to buy vintage clothing from!
I got this dress from Lalamagic while they were having their 50% sale, so it was only $20! It's hard for me to resist a cute sailor dress. I still love my gorgeous halter sailor dress that I wore over the summer, but as a girl who is on the busty side, it's tough to pull off strapless or halter tops without having to keep pulling them up and adjusting them. It's nice to have something a little more comfortable on hand that requires less maintenance and adjustment. I still want to break out that other sailor dress, though. It's actually really heavy and long, which would be good for the cold weather. The summer shoot I did with it is definitely one of my favorites from this year.

You're really cute and I like how you dress, but your blog posts are overwhelming because of how many pictures there are. It makes me stop paying attention. Something to consider is just picking the BEST photos--like 5-7 of them--and trying not to post a bunch that have the same pose/expression/etc.
ReplyDeleteI was thinking this exact same thing recently! I love this blog but every post seems to have 30 photos in it with half of them indistinguishable from the other half in terms of poses, etc. Now I just pause at the first one which you can see the outfit properly, admire/takeagoodlook and skip through the rest entirely.
DeleteI love this 'themed' nautical outfit - especially that black coat!

I love this outfit! That dress is adorable. I also totally get your fascination with the way cities looked in the past. I've spent more time than I'd like to admit looking at photos of NYC in the 40s and 50s and wishing I was there.
ReplyDeleteHow adorable. I love the hat.

Love the sailor vibe! That hat is so lovely!
ReplyDeleteI have this dress! :O I bought it a couple of months ago from one of those Chinese wholesalers for $13, choo choo! It feels so lovely and expensive, too. It's definitely one of my favorites, but the white ribbon around the neck has turned blue from excessive washing :(
ReplyDeleteDon't you just look gorgeous! Love the pics of you twirling around and the kiss you blew to us!
ReplyDeleteI am absolutely loving this sailor-inspired style! And your black peacoat is super cute!

Oh man it would be so awesome to be able to get in a time machine and see cities in different time periods. There's so much I'd want to see! It'd be very cool to know my grandparents when they were young too - or even their parents.
ReplyDeleteBut anyway, this sailor dress is the cutest ever. I can't resist a good sailor dress! I wish I had one in navy blue like yours. You're adorable!
I love this! I'm actually on the look for something like this, thanks for supplying some places to look. You look awesome. :)
