First Snowfall

Welp...the inevitable happened and we finally got our first snowfall of the season. It didn't end up being that much. We actually got more this past weekend and are supposed to get more tomorrow! It's coming in small doses, which is good. It's better than getting a foot all at once!

One thing I like about winter is the landscapes it can create. I love capturing the snow, icicles, and frost. It makes everything sparkle and look so pretty. All of the trees were covered in ice yesterday and while the sun was setting, it was like all the trees were illuminated. It was amazing! I wish I had my camera on me to capture it, but alas...I was cameraless and also driving. I did get some nice pictures of the ice on the tree in our yard that I will share here soon!

Since this past weekend was a snowy one, it was very low-key. I spent all of Saturday indoors doing pretty much nothing. I laid in bed and edited pictures and played Settlers of Catan online. It's sort of a nerdy game, but I love it. It's actually really fun! We also decorated the tree and I baked some pumpkin bread. Baking something always keeps you and the house a little warmer when it's cold out.

Speaking of baking...it's almost time to spend hours slaving away over Christmas cookies! My mom always makes anginettes, butterballs, and pignoli cookies. I always make the cut-out sugar cookies, gingerbread, and various others. This year I'll be making hot cocoa cookies and maybe something else. I haven't decided and nothing else is really jumping out at me. It's funny how traditions can stick for years and years.

I'm so excited because my cousin who is now a Marine will be home for Christmas! I thought he would have to miss it and stay on base, but he's home. :) He wasn't able to be there for Thanksgiving, so I'm glad he will be here for Christmas. It's just not the same when someone is missing.

  4. Snooooowww!!! I'm soooooo jealous !!!!! These photos turned out so magical and I love your cute winter outfit. I'm glad to hear you decorated your Christmas tree and will soon be baking some traditional Christmas cookies! My mom started doing her annual Christmas baking just a couple of days ago and I've been munching on all of her goodies ever since, hehehe.

  5. Man, I really want Christmas cookies but since we're visiting relatives this year we didn't have time to bake any before we left. So sad. Maybe when I get home we can make some for New Year's instead!

But anyway, hooray for snowy pictures! I always love the way outfit pictures look in the snow. Your gingham dress is adorable with the snowy background and I really love how cozy your cardigan looks too.
