Taking the train on the shoreline is always great because the views are amazing. If trains weren't so expensive, I would just ride them all over all day and people watch and take in all the scenery. It's a quick way to just get away a little and get to someplace new.
This outfit is chock full of new things that I got for Christmas! The dress, the necklace, and the shoes are all new. I really love the color of the dress, and it's very comfy! I also really love the necklace since giraffes are one of my favorite animals. I love how it's just the head and is a little bit bolder than I usually wear for jewelry. I usually go for more dainty styles. I still really wish I could ride a giraffe like a horse. It'd be so awesome!
This coat is new too, and I also got it for Christmas. It's from ModCloth, and I really love it! I wanted a new peacoat that was similar to a beige one that I have, but I wanted it to have a non-neutral colored one. I love peacoats that are shaped like a dress with the skirt that flairs out. I found this coat among my searches, and decided that it fit my criteria just fine. :)
I feel that I had a very strong year with my blog in 2013. I had my first giveaway, posted a lot more frequently, and feel that overall, I became more creative in how I mix colors and whatnot. I am very proud of a lot of my posts from last year and I'm looking forward to all the new ideas 2014 will bring me. I'd really like to do more thematic shoots like I did with the balloon shoot or the undead shoot. I'd love to use more props and get more creative in storytelling through photos.

ReplyDeleteNice blog :)
ReplyDeleteLooked through some photos and in 100% view most of them are somewhat blurry, especially with a good dslr as you have (60D). So I checked some EXIF info and here's some tips:
Most of the lenses, especially on a APS-C DSLR (in your case 60D), image quality starts to degrade after aperture f/8.0. Since you're mostly shooting portrait shots most of the time, a bigger aperture also benefits more to create a more blurry background. Quite a few of your shots are shot at f./11, which is not necessary and degrades image quality, along with two more problems: smaller aperture means less light into your camera which increases your shutter time so your photos can get blurry, and the camera will also try to to increase ISO which creates noise. Most of your shots have ISO 800, where ISO100 should be the norm when shooting in sunny areas. For portrait f/5.6 or larger is ideal. If you must need more field of depth keep it at f/8.0.
Earlier Canon cameras also tend to over expose your shots, making photos look washed out. I'd suggest putting the exposure compensation at -1/3 all the time, this way you can get better shutter speed and ISO too :)
Just my 2 cents, sorry for my rambling xD
Cute outfit!! The color of your dress is so lovely! I love riding in trains as well! I take the Metro North train into NYC pretty often, and while I would prefer to travel in a "real" train with compartments and a place to dine, I love watching everything pass by. I find sitting in trains to be really calming and a great place to be inspired to write!

This outfit! This might be my favorite that I've seen in a while. I recognized this dress right away, I considered buying it as soon as I saw it on Asos's site! It' so gorgeous on you. Polka dot tights are my favorite, they bring such a fun element to an outfit.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I definitely know how you feel-haha the length we go to for pictures, there have been a few times where I just cannot take the cold but suck it up anyway!
This outfit is adorable! That dress is amazing and the color is perfect!

Aw I love these pictures with the train. I like trains too, but maybe that's because my dad works for a railroad and I've been cultured to like them! haha
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I really love the mix of reddish tones in this outfit. That dress is gorgeous on you and your new coat is wonderfully classic. I'm loving the way your polka dot tights look with the print on your dress too. So cute!
