Quick Pics

Despite all the snow and cold, February was a pretty alright month! I started it off with a trip to the orchard to do a photoshoot and visit the store to see all the yummy things they had. I also celebrated my cousin Ashley's birthday with a slumber party and a day trip to Providence to go to the mall and eat at Fire and Ice.

We had snowstorm on top of snowstorm on top of snowstorm during the beginning/middle of the month. It seemed endless and we still have snow everywhere. I also made a s'mores cake for my Grandpa's birthday. I originally planned to post a recipe for it, but it came out looking a little flat and lopsided, and it was really annoying to make so I decided against it. It tasted good, though!

I used a giant heart lollipop as a prop for my Valentine's Day themed shoot. I still haven't finished it. To be fair, though, I haven't really eaten anymore of it since that day. For Valentine's Day, Chris and I got froyo and exchanged presents. I gave him the DIY wooden wall art that I made him. I posted a tutorial for it here in case you missed it! I was so proud and excited about the results. It feels good to make something! I've been getting back into playing my ukulele a bit more lately. I want to get back into more creative outlets this year. He got me candles - one scented like Dumbledore's Office and the other scented like Old Books. He also made me a little handmade valentine. :) My dad got me Russell Stovers as he does every year. Chris also got me a box so I had a lot of chocolate to eat.

Speaking of music, this whole month, I couldn't stop listening to Disney music and Spice Girls. I've also learned Spice Up Your Life on ukulele, as well as some Disney songs. If I'm brave enough, I might record them and share them with you all. I'm always so self-conscious about my voice though. I added another couple of mugs to my collection, including this cute one with a teacup on it.

I've been obsessing over coral this month as I am strongly anticipating the beginning of spring. I've gotten two shades of coral lipstick, one from LORAC Cosmetics and one from Too Faced. Speaking of shades of pink, I recently tried a pink moscato and strawberry wine that was absolutely delicious. I drank it while playing Catan and listening to 90's music. A perfect night.

My cousin and I went on a spooky adventure last weekend that I will be posting about in more detail soon. Here are some sneak peeks at it, though!

We are finally through the worst of the winter months! The first day of spring is only 3 weeks away, so hopefully it'll warm up quick during March. I can't wait to be surrounded with flowers and leaves on the trees. :)

Milkshakes, Kitties & Birch Beer

This past weekend was in the 40s both days, and I knew I had to take advantage of it...especially now that it's back to the 30s again. On Saturday, Chris and I spent the day galavanting in a little downtown area. We went to a vintage/consignment shop and then went to a sandwich and soup shop where we split the most delicious chicken sandwich I've ever had. We also bought some red birch beer since we had never seen red birch beer before and wanted to try it. We have only had white birch beer, which is absolutely amazing.

Because the weather was so warm and springy, I couldn't help but wear some spring colors. Plus I wanted to wear my other new coral lipstick by Too Faced. It's a more deeper shade. I have a burgundy shade of theirs too, which I wear pretty often. I love how creamy and soft this lipstick is. Can you tell I really love the coral/mint combo, by the way? I also love remixing this milkshake print dress by Sugarhill Boutique. I can never get enough novelty prints, and this one is adorable! I definitely need to take pictures of it when I'm actually drinking a milkshake someday. Maybe in the summer. But for now, I'm drinking this red birch beer in a cool retro-looking glass bottle.

I don't know what it was about this area, but everyone kept staring at me and shouting things at me. This one car of people around my age drove by and the girl yelled "WOOOOOOOO!" out the window at me. And then when we were taking pictures, there were two men down the way who kept looking over at me. When I took my coat off to get outfit shots, I heard one guy say to the other, "Look, she's taking her coat off!". It was so weird and random. Another guy in a window freaked out about my tights to the other men he was talking to as we walked by. We could see him pointing at my tights and turning around to keep looking at me. It's like no one has ever seen quirky prints before! haha. Everyone always thinks I either drew the cats on or that they are tattoos. This is why I don't like taking pictures alone in very public areas...lol.

In the vintage shop, I came across this really amazing full length fur coat that was only $20. I tried it on, and it looked pretty awesome. If I ever felt glamorous in my life, it would be while wearing that coat. I was torn on whether or not I should get it, but I decided against it. I would feel kind of ridiculous wearing a full length fur coat out and about all the time, so I probably wouldn't get much use out of it. I would probably wear it specifically for photoshoots just because it's so pretty and awesome looking. I didn't think it was worth it to spend the money. It wasn't practical. What I really want is a short somewhat cropped fur coat that I can wear more often.

We also stopped at a cute little used bookstore that also had vintage toys and a couple of cats who loved people. We ended the day by making a broccoli casserole for dinner and then seeing The Lego Movie. The movie was really funny and great. I didn't know that so many awesome actors were the voices in it. Chris Pratt, Elizabeth Banks, Morgan Freeman, Charlie Day, Will Ferrell, Nick Offerman, and Will Arnett are all in it. Amazing! It was one of those kids movies that you can tell was also meant for an older crowd as well. Sometimes Spongebob is like that, as well as Regular Show and Adventure Time.

I am so happy that February is almost over! I can't wait to be that much closer to spring and to finally be rid of all the snow that is still lingering around. I have a feeling that we are done with any significant amounts of snowfall and that if we do get more snow, it'll only be showers. I really hope I didn't just jinx myself, though.

Is It Spring Yet?

Because there is so much snow outside and it seems that if we weren't getting snow, we were getting rain, I decided it'd be neat to do a photoshoot in a greenhouse! There's always plant life there! It's like spring was captured and preserved inside. Plus, it's indoors so no worries about being cold or having the weather mess things up. It's a perfect rainy day photoshoot location.

While the nursery didn't have too much yet since the season isn't in full swing, it was still nice to see some flowers and green. I've been really into coraly colors lately, so I was excited when I saw that this dress was on sale for only $17.50 from Ruche. It's very simple and sweet, so it's easy to accessorize with! It'll be perfect for the spring, whenever it finally decides to get here.

I also felt that the dress would go perfectly with my new coral lipstick by LORAC Cosmetics. I've been really into lipsticks lately, and I really love this one. It makes your lips feel so soft and it has SPF 15! I should do a post about all the lipsticks I use and love because there are quite a few! I would love to get some more colors from LORAC, though. I love how it makes my lips feel and I love that it gives my lips protection from the sun. I couldn't wait to wear it when I got it because the color is perfect for brightening up any day. It makes me feel a little better when the days are grey.

I would love to have a garden someday. I would want a lot of land so that I can plant fruit trees, too. I'd want to grow my own fruit and my own vegetables. I think it'd be great to just be able to go out into my yard if I needed some cucumbers or strawberries. I would also love to have a little field of my favorite flowers like sunflowers and daisies. The only thing I wouldn't like is all the bees it would probably attract.

I've had a pretty good weekend! I went on a couple adventures and also to a vintage/consignment shop. I also had a really successful Goodwill trip the other day when I was wearing this dress. I found a white cape for only $4. I have been wanting a cape lately, the kind with the armholes in it, and I finally found one without even trying! Perhaps this dress of mine is lucky! :)
