You know how I shared my love of trains in
a post from last month? Well, I also have a soft spot for trolleys. They're just so old-fashioned and cute! I wish that there were still trolleys that ran around town, though it would probably disrupt traffic. There are still trolleys that run, but they just go through the woods and not through town.

There's something intriguing and compelling about decay. It gives off a vibe of history and antiquity that I love. It's why abandoned places are always fun to look at and explore. Decay can mean neglect or disregard, but I think it also tells some sort of story. Something old and decayed once had a purpose and it's fun to wonder what it was and when. There's an odd beauty to it.

Sometimes I toy with the idea of one day having an antique car and taking really good care of it. I'd drive it on really nice, sunny days and listen to Glenn Miller. My grandparents used to have a huge Cadillac that must've been either from the mid-late 70s. It was pretty awesome looking. I have memories from my childhood of being in that car and playing with the ashtrays on the doors. They had a cover to them that flipped up and I liked opening and closing them. I wish they still had that car so that I could have it. Even though it was absolutely gigantic and I'd probably feel uncomfortable driving it, I love that it's vintage and I love the memories attached to it.

I've been reading Wicked. I'm about a little more than a quarter of the way through the book. I have to say, it's a little boring and hard to get into during the first 60-70 pages. When the Wicked Witch (Elphaba) is a baby, the story is pretty blah. But now it has skipped ahead to her being in college and it's a little more interesting. The book is 406 pages long, so I have a ways to go. I've been told it gets even better, so we shall see!

I need to take a moment to talk about these shoes. They are by
Clarks and I got them on sale at DSW a while back. They are a half-size bigger than my normal size, but they fit great and they are probably the comfiest heels I've ever had. I would get them in all kinds of colors if I could. I love shoes that are made to both be comfy and look cute. Mary Janes are such a classic style that I love! These shoes will definitely be coming to Florida with me since we usually do a lot of walking there.

I've gotten some really great responses to my last post about blogging and the blogging world. One thing that's really great about a community like this is that you tend to realize that you are not alone in how you are feeling, no matter what it is. Someone out there will always understand and has gone through the same things and has had the same thoughts. It just makes blogging that much more rewarding to be able to connect on that kind of level with people you haven't even met in person!
Such a great location, Sara, and this outfit is super cute. I love the shoes, too! And I read Wicked a loooooong time ago, and I honestly can't remember if I made it all the way to the end. It was definitely interesting (I remember it being way more sexually-driven than the show??), but I seem to remember it being slow. I have a couple of his other books, but never really was able to get into them. Maybe I'll try again at some point...

Yes, I tend to see a lot of beauty in the old, decaying and forgotten too. If I visit a place that has been tended to by humans in years I often almost feel like I can feel the past surrounding as if it were a being. It is quite eerie, and I just love it. You look lovely too by the way - I love, love your shoes! Comfy mary-janes are winners for me!
ReplyDeletebeautiful photos, such an awesome location! lovely outfit, and you can't beat clarks shoes - I have loads of them! x
