Milkshakes, Kitties & Birch Beer

This past weekend was in the 40s both days, and I knew I had to take advantage of it...especially now that it's back to the 30s again. On Saturday, Chris and I spent the day galavanting in a little downtown area. We went to a vintage/consignment shop and then went to a sandwich and soup shop where we split the most delicious chicken sandwich I've ever had. We also bought some red birch beer since we had never seen red birch beer before and wanted to try it. We have only had white birch beer, which is absolutely amazing.

Because the weather was so warm and springy, I couldn't help but wear some spring colors. Plus I wanted to wear my other new coral lipstick by Too Faced. It's a more deeper shade. I have a burgundy shade of theirs too, which I wear pretty often. I love how creamy and soft this lipstick is. Can you tell I really love the coral/mint combo, by the way? I also love remixing this milkshake print dress by Sugarhill Boutique. I can never get enough novelty prints, and this one is adorable! I definitely need to take pictures of it when I'm actually drinking a milkshake someday. Maybe in the summer. But for now, I'm drinking this red birch beer in a cool retro-looking glass bottle.

I don't know what it was about this area, but everyone kept staring at me and shouting things at me. This one car of people around my age drove by and the girl yelled "WOOOOOOOO!" out the window at me. And then when we were taking pictures, there were two men down the way who kept looking over at me. When I took my coat off to get outfit shots, I heard one guy say to the other, "Look, she's taking her coat off!". It was so weird and random. Another guy in a window freaked out about my tights to the other men he was talking to as we walked by. We could see him pointing at my tights and turning around to keep looking at me. It's like no one has ever seen quirky prints before! haha. Everyone always thinks I either drew the cats on or that they are tattoos. This is why I don't like taking pictures alone in very public areas...lol.

In the vintage shop, I came across this really amazing full length fur coat that was only $20. I tried it on, and it looked pretty awesome. If I ever felt glamorous in my life, it would be while wearing that coat. I was torn on whether or not I should get it, but I decided against it. I would feel kind of ridiculous wearing a full length fur coat out and about all the time, so I probably wouldn't get much use out of it. I would probably wear it specifically for photoshoots just because it's so pretty and awesome looking. I didn't think it was worth it to spend the money. It wasn't practical. What I really want is a short somewhat cropped fur coat that I can wear more often.

We also stopped at a cute little used bookstore that also had vintage toys and a couple of cats who loved people. We ended the day by making a broccoli casserole for dinner and then seeing The Lego Movie. The movie was really funny and great. I didn't know that so many awesome actors were the voices in it. Chris Pratt, Elizabeth Banks, Morgan Freeman, Charlie Day, Will Ferrell, Nick Offerman, and Will Arnett are all in it. Amazing! It was one of those kids movies that you can tell was also meant for an older crowd as well. Sometimes Spongebob is like that, as well as Regular Show and Adventure Time.

I am so happy that February is almost over! I can't wait to be that much closer to spring and to finally be rid of all the snow that is still lingering around. I have a feeling that we are done with any significant amounts of snowfall and that if we do get more snow, it'll only be showers. I really hope I didn't just jinx myself, though.

  2. Love this post! I feel the same with taking photos in public areas. It's definitely awkward. And as for snow, we still have tons. And I'd love to say we're finished with storms, but we ALWAYS have a big St. Patty's Day storm. It's usually mid-April by the time the snow is pretty much gone. That being said, you look very spring-ish and not-freezing in your pictures! :)

  5. I love this dress on you! I just love all things mint green to be honest :)
I wouldn't worry about the people staring and pointing, if it happens enough you get used to it. I tend to take all my pictures in secluded areas without any around just for the peace of mind. But in my day to day life people point and stare at me all the time. Apparently no one in Belgium has seen a person with coloured hair before!
