To The Lighthouse

A few weeks ago, my friend Nadia and I went on a little day trip to a lighthouse. The reason I wanted to take a trip to a lighthouse even though there are plenty around me is because this one allowed you to climb up inside of it, which I always wanted to do. It was pretty cool! The only things I wish are that it was a little bigger and was one that the lighthouse keeper had a room inside. Other than that, it was really awesome.

It was a really nice day, and although it was mid-September, it was still pretty summery out. Clearly, since I was wearing short sleeves and a skirt with no tights on the beach. The grounds around the lighthouse were really nice. We walked around a bit and explored. There were actually two weddings happening at different locations on the ground that day. We joked about crashing them, which I secretly kind of always wanted to do. My morals always stop me, though.

I received this skirt from SheInside, and I am really happy with it! It's a great length, fabric, shape, and color. It's also really comfortable! It would be great to wear for the holiday season, too, though red is festive for so many different occasions in general.

Since it was warm and we were going to a lighthouse, I decided to of course go with a nautical look with the red skirt. I had this sailor hat from a couple of years ago and I thought it was a good opportunity to break it out!

After we climbed up the lighthouse and walked around, we ended up relaxing on some of the giant rocks that were near the water. It was really nice to sit there by the water in the sun and just talk and lounge.

On the way to the lighthouse, we noticed a giant windmill on one side of the road. I thought it looked really cool and we decided we would stop there on the way back from the lighthouse.

When we stopped, we took some pictures outside, then noticed that you can actually go inside the windmill! There are three floors inside it, and we went up all three of them. The windmill was built in the 1787! The woman said that every so often, they actually run it. I think she said it was every 2 years. It was really neat to see the inside of it. The thing was HUGE.

After our windmill excursion, we got back in the car and headed back home. We were lucky and didn't hit any traffic either way. It was a very successful day trip, and Nadia is one of my favorite people to travel with. :)

  1. I LOVE this! It's a good thing I don't live near any lighthouses or windmills because I would be there ALL the time... :'D The sailor theme is too adorable.
